Jackknife Variance Estimation for Two Samples after Imputation under Two-Phase Sampling

چکیده
We propose a jackknife variance estimator for the population average from two, two-phase samples after imputation. The jackknife method has long been used to estimate and reduce bias, but has now become a valuable tool for variance estimation. We apply two different sampling methods, (simple random sampling and stratified random sampling) to derive jackknife variance estimators for the twosample case after imputation under two-phase sampling.

Estimating Variance of the Sample Mean in Two-phase Sampling with Unit Non-response Effect
In sample surveys, we always deal with two types of errors: Sampling error and non-sampling error. One of the most common non-sampling errors is nonresponse. This error happens when some sample units are not observed or viewed but they do not answer some of the questions. The complete prevention of this error is not possible, but it can be significantly reduced. The non-response causes bias and ...
متن کاملSimplified Variance Estimation for Complex Surveys
Many surveys employ complex sampling and estimation designs. Complex designs lead to complex variance estimation systems requiring significant investments of resources over long time periods to develop, implement, and run. The Census 2000 Accuracy and Coverage Evaluation (A.C.E.) Survey with a complex multi-stage design, imputation, and post-stratified dual-system estimation is an example. The ...
متن کاملVariance Estimation in the Presence of Imputation for Missing Data
Item nonresponse is usually treated by some form of deterministic or random imputation. We focus on deterministic imputation; in particular, ratio and nearest neighbour imputations commonly used in establishment surveys. Frequentist inference from imputed data is based on a repeated sampling framework and assumed response mechanism. On the other hand, use of imputation models requires only that...
متن کاملJackknife Variance Estimation for Two-phase Samples with High Sampling Fractions
The two-phase sample design is often employed in sample surveys for various reasons. It has a long history, first introduced by Neyman (1938). Traditionally, the technique is used to collect some auxiliary data that are not available for the sampling frame from a large first-phase sample to use the data at the second-phase sampling. The technique, sometimes called “double sampling” has many app...
متن کاملVariance Estimation for Imputed Survey Data with Non-negligible Sampling Fractions
We consider variance estimation for Horvitz-Thompson type estimated totals based on survey data with imputed nonrespondents and with non-negligible sampling fractions. A method based on a variance decomposition is proposed. Our method can be applied to complicated situations where a composite of some deterministic and/or random imputation methods is used, including using imputed data to impute....
